Exodus 12:1-42

A lamb, some blood on a doorframe, and death passed over.

The tenth plague is coming — the death of every firstborn in Egypt. God gives Moses precise instructions: each family must slaughter a lamb, paint its blood on their doorposts, roast the meat, and eat it standing up with sandals on, ready to leave. At midnight, death sweeps through Egypt. Every house without blood on the doorframe loses its firstborn — from Pharaoh's palace to the prisoner's dungeon. A great cry rises across Egypt. Pharaoh summons Moses in the night: Go. Take your people and go. After 430 years, Israel walks out of slavery.
